We have made objects from clay for thousands of years; it is a familiar medium. Its utilitarian abilities, however, have often eclipsed its potential to serve as a purely artistic vehicle.

Carrie's clay works have abandoned the practical and instead focus upon the visual and tactile nature of the material. They recreate the very earth from which they were pulled, revealing its secrets as well as our desire to know them.
